Huey Lewis & The News

The Power of Love

Very near the end of the song, key change after the guitar solo, it all gets a bit frantic and there’s a line that apparently goes:

“You won’t feel nothing til you feel…”

But I’ve always heard:

You won’t feel like a jellied eel…”

I don’t even like the song that much but always sing along to that bit, and today is genuinely the first time I’ve looked up the proper lyrics type my version is better I reckon.

What song lyrics have you always heard as something else?

I only found out recently that in Aztec Cameras "Somewhere in my heart", the line I thought was

"A vision of love wearing boxing gloves and singing hearts and flowers" is actually

"Ambition and love wearing boxing gloves and singing hearts and flowers"

Also, in Blondies Denis, the line I thought was

"You're nineteen and I'm eleven every time I look at you" is actually

"You're my king and I'm in Heaven every time I look at you".

Chain reaction by Dianna Ross, at 1:11 she definitely sings "for Eddie Waring there ain't no salvation" which I think is a bit harsh, he was good on It's A Knockout.

Guilty.

I also really liked Santa Goes Flying by John Parr from around the same time.

I was always glad that Aretha told me to 'take care with TCP' in Respect...
