Or get it to "unlearn" me?

One of the best features of Spotify when I first started subscribing a few years back was the number of tracks and artists it would throw up on a song or artist radio playlist. These days it seems the algorithm tends towards stuff it "knows" I like and which is really familiar to me. Is there a way to revert to the good old days of discovering "new" artists?

I would love to be able to tell Spotify not to play "I got you babe" by Sonny & Cher ever again.

I have never asked for this song. I have never "liked" it. I always skip it as soon as it comes on, yet if I ask for random music it will come up quite regularly.

Typing it on here pretty much guarantees you'll be hearing from Sonny and Cher soon.

This is a real 'bete noir' with me as well.

YouTube does exactly the same thing. A few years back I would start off with a video, say of Sam & Dave, and all sorts of suggestions would come up in the side bar, not all of them very closely related. You could 'steer' yourself in whatever direction interested you and have a pleasant hour or two's browse. Today, half of the suggestions consist of videos you have seen already.

It seems to be a spin off of targeted advertising.

There's a good chunk of the sum of human knowledge out there on the internet and all it wants to do is funnel you down familiar paths. It's about time somebody had a serious look at this, because at the end of the day, our minds and our imaginations are being controlled by algorithms.
