Not quite correct. Peter Tork was part of the Greenwich Village folk scene in the early 60s, where he hung out with Steve Stills. They later moved to LA.
I saw him play an impromptu gig at a pub in Lancashire a good few years ago, playing mostly country and old-time music. He was more than competent on guitar, banjo and keyboard.
