Inspired by some lyrics in the "......lyrics that didn't age well" thread, I was reminded of this Led Zep tune:-



I play the guitar, but I can recognise a killer bass line when I hear one and JPJ's work on this tune is - for me - astonishing

Another that springs to mind is Roger Waters on PF's "Money"

I went to see them many years ago and I was stood so close to the PA that JJB’s bass made my hair move during the intro to Hanging around. That’s how I reminisce about it anyway

ETA, I got as far as the first harmonics and realised I needed to get a life. I spent 10 years as a session bass player and never needed such technique! Nobody apart from Weather Report will ever need bass players to be such clever gits.

I try to stand near the speakers, I used to be able to feel the wind from them when Jet Black hit the bass drum when they opened with "Norfolk Coast". It doesn't seem as loud now. And no, it's not that I've gone deaf.
