Not strictly music but seems an appropriate place to ask....

Question relates to editing videos...

I have a pair of bookshelf monitor speakers with a volume control. A pair of headphones, also with volume control. I can set the output volume of the computer and also the output volume of the editing software.

Question is, where should all these volume settings be set?

Depends (not much help I know)

For cueing/editing, as long as you can hear it doesn't matter - i.e. the end result isn't effected.

For mastering (levels and such) I prefer to use monitors, set to between 30 and 70%. Use feed outputs to make the noise level comfortable.
