Hi!

I'm conscious there have been some absolutely incredible gigs back when we didn't have fantastic recording ability.

I'd like to get hold of video and audio in as top quality as possible from those gigs. Is CD the best option. But surely they will have been remastered and such since then?

I'm talking gigs like Queen Wembley, Insx Wembley, Rammstein Madison Gardens and everything in between! Even Alicia Keys at her best where the recording couldn't do her justice.
I have seen some uoscaling of videos but wonder if there is a better option?
I know I'm fighting against physics in that it can only be as good as a titivated remaster of the original recording, but how do I get hold of them? Is it as simple as rummage on Amazon for a remastered edition for each? What about video?

Thanks!

Eta: George Michael at Wembley with Queen / Elton etc!

I don't think recording quality is a significant factor.......recording quality has been extremely good since the late 60's and early 70's. Some would argue that recording quality to a backward step backwards in the early 80's with the use of the the first couple of generations of digital recorders / A to D converters due to time code / clocking errors.

Same goes for playback, high res formats are not needed. we're not able to reliably distinguish anything higher than standard Red book CD 16 bit 44.1 Khz quality. There's no video on CD though so you need DVD/ Bluray if you want a physical copy rather than to stream.

Some of the video quality is pants on early video to be fair but there is only so much that can be done if the originally recorded footage was ropey.

As for great live concerts........ inc video
