Whenever I turn on anything musical on the TV at the moment (Trnsmt,Belldrum,Queen's birthday etc) there's Nile Rodgers and Chic going through their back catalogue. Now I don't dispute he's a talented guy, both as a musician and a producer and I do like him, he comes across well in interviews etc., but why the sudden resurgence of his 70's & 80's (Jeez is it that long ago) music? Is it just because current stuff is so poor?
He has been playing everywhere this summer.
I think it will be down to the price of festival tickets. Festival tickets are about the same price as previous years, but bands are selling tickets for their own concerts for much more than before.
The line ups for festivals has been weak this year.

Largely, yes.Nile was applying tertiary harmonies and jazz chords with upper extensions to pop tunes in the 1970's! These days, a hit tune may have just four simple diatonic chords from a given key. Example : C / Am / G / F in the key of C. I find modern examples of clever musical "pop" stuff to be Lady GaGa and Billie Eilish
I watched all 3 episodes of this earlier in the year (unfortunately it appears to be NLA) :

The series gave an amazing insight into a massively talented individual (who appears to be a musical savant) If you can find it, it's well worthwhile watching. But failing that, I suspect a lot of the BBC 4 series is duplicated in this interview :

Largely, yes.Niles playing a number of festivals has nothing to do with current music being poor. There are plenty of top acts out there that are huge draws for concerts and festivals.
