Love him or loathe him, he did some catchy, although not very edgy, stuff. Gangsta's Paradise was the sound of my late teens, for a few months you couldn't escape it. RIP Coolio.

I never rated him and I’m into my old skool hip hop (which was current when I was young).

Seemed like a real sexist prat on the stuff I’ve seen him on. And trust me I’m not usually massively bothered by that, as it’s par for the course with the old rap stuff.

Very average rapper. “Too hot” was catchy (well, as catchy as a song about HIV can be) and Gangsters Paradise was everywhere at the time but he’s not a patch on the proper heavyweights.

I’m surprised it’s covered by BBC news too. Is it big news over here?

RIP though. Death gets us all and is never nice.
