£230 for the ropiest old Eko guitar I've ever seen (and I've seen/owned several over the years)

It even has a serious looking crack between the front and the side

I've been looking for interesting second hand guitars for a while now, and it seems that many owners thing old guitar means £££

Feel free to post any examples you've seen

I gig SG Specials/SGXs, rather than take anything too expensive with me, as they were cheap and suited me well. These were £400 guitars all day long last year.

Not many about for less than double that now.

However, JCM2000 100W heads seem very cheap at the minute.

I bought a NOS Gilmour replica Fender Custom Shop strat. Cost a bloody fortune but was my dream guitar. I got a few pennies change from 4k in 2018.

Please tell me people aren't paying 10,500 for one now....

But it's been massively reduced, by four thousand pounds!!! tongue out

Crazy money, but I have to say that I'm quite jealous of your guitar and could easily talk myself into buying one too, just not for 10k though

I've been looking for some cheap local guitars to fix up and sell, but it's just not worth it. I did pick up a £60 Squier Showmaster that was like a banana (he'd massively over tuned it!), more to practice fret dressing, etc on. I gave the body a major buff too and it came out pretty well and plays great since I did the fret dress/set up. However, I doubt I'd get much more than I paid for it...

Seems I'm better off just fixing friend's guitars for them instead; no hassle buying and selling, they aren't usually in a huge rush to get them back and understand it's just a fill in job. Collection is often accompanied by a nice bottle of gin too: Hourly rate for soldering a few wires, then playing on their guitar to 'test it out' works out very decent to me. smile

Still plenty of CS models available for around the £4k mark if you search, though being able to spray and assemble to my own spec means they hold less attraction to me these days. I played a few at Coda music the day I bought my Rickenbacker and while they were nice, I didn't see the improvement over other MIA Strats, or even the one I'd put together myself. It'll take me a while longer to get it looking so roadworn, but it's getting there slowly.

Always something interesting! My sister's partner had an Ovation guitar which had been sadly abused and kept in a dampish cellar so the neck was horribly bent. I took it and let it dry out, then bit by bit got it straight using the truss rod. Don't know where it is now. Some years later, a friend's daughter contrived to break the neck of her classical guitar and it was basically written off. I said I'd give it a go and with a bit of stainless rod and some glue managed to fix it. I was nervous when I put the strings back and tensioned everything, but all went well!
