His passing seems to have slipped under the radar. Was never a great Nazareth fan but he definitely had a great pair of lungs.

Must have seen Nazareth dozens of times, always as a supporting act throughout the mid/late 70s. A very distinctive voice.

Who?

Where does the threshold lie when deciding to create a RIP thread?
More importantly, why bother?

That’s a shame; always liked his voice and Nazareth album art was always eye-catching. Completely worthy of a thread to mark his passing.

Just because some millennial hasn't heard of someone who (probably) never had a TikTok account, doesn't mean they weren't popular, successful and notable of recognition.

I expect you had a similar complaint when Vera Lynn went?

Great shame, saw them many times in the 70's still listen to Hair of the Dog etc. Very good live band.

Woke up this morning,
My dog was dead.
Someone disliked him
And shot him through the head.

Wonderful! And that's before you've even been Shanghai'd in Shanghai.

So when you're back from Alcatraz and have got over the Jet Lag we're still gonna Razamanaz ya all night!

Always used to load a few Nazareth tracks onto the jukebox, just wind up people like goldar!

A fantastic voice!

Going to take a wee run out on my white bicycle today as a tribute to Dan, who was almost my next door neighbour BTW, a thoroughly
decent guy too. RIP.

My mother was a huge Nazareth fan and had all their albums, which, as a young teenager discovering Led Zeppelin, AC/DC etc., I soon began borrowing on a regular basis. Hair Of The Dog and No Mean City are excellent, as is the original Greatest Hits album. I missed seeing them a few years ago when Dan began to have issues with his voice and they stopped touring, cancelling their remaining gigs.

Whilst never in the league of Led Zeppelin, etc., the original four piece (Dan, Manny Charlton, Pete Agnew and Darrell Sweet) were a superb act, and apparently a huge influence on Gun N Roses (hence Axl Rose's attempt at gravelly voice).

RIP Dan.

As Dan once said, 'What's your claim to fame... who the hell do you think you are?'
