I was watching Mumford and sons performing hurt on you tube recently and towards the end of the song is a short solo played on an electric six string banjo which sounded like no other banjo i have ever heard. This in itself was an amazing sound but it made me realize that banjo players seem to be the calmest member of any band. The guitarists are often running around the stage and posing with their instruments even the drummer is often very active but the banjo player nearly always just stands and plays.I am looking at this from the point of view of someone who however much he would would love to be able to play piano has no musical talent whatsoever.

It’s easy to strum a guitar while running about, it’s much harder to fingerpick…

lol, don't often see drummers running round with their kits biggrin

I guess also a 6 string banjo is really just a guitar with a twangy sound. No reason you couldn't run around the same. Tuning and cords are all as per a guitar.

Here's some fun banjo playing. Enjoy smile

They played at our local pub several years ago. Top guys and an awesome night.

Watch the video it actually is a banjo and i am thinking more of how some drummers like to bounce around on their seat.

An electric 6 string banjo has the same tuning, scale length and less weight than a electric guitar so the player has no reason not to run about like a young Angus Young or arm windmill like Pete Towshend.

Banjo players are just more studious and introverted.
