Dave and Rog definitely not on friendly terms. Either that or it's a big publicity stunt for the 50th anniversary of Dark Side of the Moon.

It's Polly that is the whole problem and Dave can't see it. Tragic.

I'm sure the protagonist(s) are aware that the laws of slander / defamation apply to twitter as well.

Maybe but Roger pretty much burned all his bridges when he left, then took the others to court to try and prevent them continuing with Pink Floyd.
And that was after he sacked Richard Wright, or pushed him out, depending upon who you believe - i heard one story where Roger claims he sacked Wright and another where Wright claims he left because of Roger being a megalomaniac so who do you believe?

Either way, maybe it would be nice to see them do a reunion tour but it will never happen as Gilmour has previously stated there is no point without Wright and this latest kerfuffle is just another point reinforcing that.

Floyd have been so much better without Roger Waters IMHO.

IIRC Wright was sacked/resigned around the time of The Wall LP. He was rehired for the live shows on a "play for pay" basis; supposedly this meant he was the only one to make any profit from the live shows.

Reading Waters' interview (link below), a lot of his argument seems to be "yes but America" rather than justifying his pro-Russia stance.

I have no idea why anyone hopes these band would have reunions. Just like a comedian telling the same jokes he did 40-50 years ago you would only do it for the money.
I imagine a lot of the friction between waters and the rest is that they can sell out giant stadiums just playing the same old thing.
At least current waters brings something new and the shows are more inventive and contemporary than that boring round screen with bulbs that semi-floyd trot out while labouring throught the set list. Mind you thats surely at least 20 years ago plus as they managed to capture the shows in glorious 4:3 vhs video.
Even though semi-floyd are as tame as can be its always a source of laughs for me that Gilmours step son has the most anarchic rebellious behaviour. Like you would expect from Waters lol.

How can it be a "reunion" without Richard Wright?

Gilmour and Waters can hardly bear to speak to each other.

Waters brings something new? You on glue? His last project was re-recording Dark Side Of The Moon…

No point in them re-convening to tour.. Australian Pink Floyd do it as well or better, and with most of their stage show, equipment and techies on board.

My mate lost his job with them, he had been with them a few years, but when a “proper” Floyd tech came free he was down the road.

Interesting. Can you elaborate on that? I know Polly wrote a lot of the lyrics on the DB but that's about it. I think with any old bands/comedian/artist, best left alone. Look at Rod Stewart & Duran Duran last year for the Queens Jubilee celebrations. Absolutely terrible. As much as I love Floyd, they will be a shadow of their former selves and as a few have mentioned. Wright isn't here so it isn't a true reunion.

No, no they don't...

The sound is very good, but there's about nine of them on the stage, (they currently list two bass players and two guitarists) it's not the same as having a fab four each doing their own thing.

Bit unfair, did the Floyd ever do the entire DSOTM live with just the four of them ?

They didn’t have two bass and two guitars, no.

Yes, early performances actually predate the album's release. Later, after the album was released, they added a saxophonist and backing singers.

It wasn't until the Animals tour (I think) that they had an additional guitarist (Snowy White).
