Didn’t want to hijack the Glastonbury thread so started a specific one.How do you think the GnR set will go tonight? I grew up with appetite, illusion 1 & 2, etc but haven’t kept an eye on them recently. Will we be blown away or left wishing for the olden days?

Axel's voice went years ago.
They'll be a shadow of their former selves..... but GnR fans will refuse to admit it smile

I don’t think they’ll rock like the Foo’s last night, happy to be proven wrong though.

Hoping it will be ace - off to see the at Hyde Park BST next Friday

When Appetite first came out I thought it was amazing but got bored with it when nearly every track was released as a single.

Completely went off them afterwards even though I got to see them in Orlando on their co-headline tour with Metallica.

Last year my 13 year old son got into them and started playing them a lot in the car which in turn reminded me how many great songs they have written. The only reason I got tickets for Hyde Park are that they are one of his favourite bands and it will be his first concert

Epic debut album, looking forward to Slash at least.

Slash is still an amazing musician. Saw him at Glastonbury a few years back and he was great. As long as they can reinforce Axl’s vocals using whatever audio trickery is required they’ll be decent.

They’re doing a big tour, so they should have all that sort of stuff worked out. As long as they don’t decide to play all of Chinese democracy we’ll be in for a good show.

Slash without a fag in his mouth (I assume) will be weird, I just want to hear the drums on Para City & to love it like I did when I was a kid either way I’m on my own for a change any will force out my inner 16 year old smile

Saw them at monsters of rock in 1988. They were unbelievably good and blew every other band away - including Iron Maiden imho.

Not expecting the same tonight, but will be watching for sure

The opening wasn't great as I simply couldn't hear the vocals.
Surprised by the running round, will be interesting to see if he can keep it up.
Hoping they smash out some classics, as I don't think the crowd is enjoying it much.
They were my highlights of the festival so hoping it gets better.

Slash is still incredible! Weird set though so far IMO, thought they’d go for the mainstream. Nice to see the young’uns loving it. Most of the crowd seem a bit stagnant though, hoping they’ll wind it up

It's just sprung to life - Slash has still got his chops even if Axl R's voice is fading a bit.
This is one of rock's great bands.

I said on the main thread, they need to turn Axl up he's being drowned out.

I think they're generally following their tour set list:

Kind of sad to hear how bad axl sounds but slash more than makes up for it, he's still the GOAT

Axl sounds like a squeaky mouse, someone needs to turn him up abit

Like others, I know the early stuff word for word but no knowledge from the 5th album onwards, tho never seen them live. Loving the nostalgia value but if you were listening them to as a new act AR's vocals would be unforgivable! Also what is it with slash's facial movements?!
