Literally hours after it was announced he was moving to a terminal hospice, it was then announced he'd died.

The older ones of you have probably never heard of the band, but their song All Star is one of the era defining tunes for anyone who grew up during the millennium.

My wife told me about this last night - very sad of course, but I had no idea who he was. Now I've listened to the song in the link, and I'm still none the wiser. My wife is only 4 years younger than me (albeit from the other side of the Atlantic) and that kind of time was peak clubbing time for me, but I have no recollection of it at all.

Yes, it was a dreadful song and totally inescapable at rock clubs at a time. A shame to hear of his demise though.
