Pistonheads Guitar Club?
Discussion
Inspired by Mrs chemistry's book club and the various beginner/intermediate guitar threads here, I wonder whether there's an opportunity for us to put together a Pistonheads Guitar Club thread?
I was thinking that someone could propose a couple of songs each month, ideally ones that are relatively well known and popular, represent two different genres, are in standard tuning, don't require special equipment (no 7 strings etc.) and have plenty of online lessons/music/tabs available for them. These sorts of thing:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKR8BAqMDiA&t=...
https://tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/tab/fountains-of-...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_HAGiRaoacs
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SVqDqsJ76hs
https://tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/tab/run-d-m-c-/wa...
Folks could then pick one/both and then during the month, learn either the basic chords, the riff(s), the solo(s) or the whole song and then (if they want to) post/link the audio/videos of their efforts here. Help could be offered to those struggling with particular bits and constructive criticism put forward on each 'performance', regardless of whether folks have played a simplified version with three chords or nailed the whole song note perfect.
At the end of each month, someone else could propose the next two songs (not sure how the 'someone' would be selected...!) and the whole thing repeats.
What do you think? Good plan
or non starter
