Watching Sky Arts they have a concert on with Country.

When I go to the states, mainly Florida you'll get it on the radio a lot and just seems to flow with the surroundings etc, so what is it about Country music that gets under your skin?

Closest I suppose here is folk?

I enjoy country music.
We have a small office and it's got an age range of 18 to 23. This excludes me.
We rotate the radio station but have country on once a week and it goes down well.

I love both kinds of music, country & western. (You might need to be a certain age to get that biggrin)

Like all genres of music, I like some bits, and don’t like other bits.

I like the honesty and simplicity of it. No cryptic lyrics (or just made up waffle).
Although i do prefer the folkier end of country. Zach Bryan has been my most played artist for about 3 years!

For a very broad range of American music, I listen to Americana Boogie Radio via the internet. It covers just about every niche of country music and barely, if ever, repeats itself for weeks at a time.

I like country as much as blues because the music has a wonderful relaxing certainty to it. Think twelve bar blues in a major pentatonic and you're in the ballpark. Great for humming along to, tapping your feet and drumming on the desk.

I’m going to see guitar legend Albert Lee at a local pub tomorrow. Along with Mark Knopfler, he’s the only Brit who can hold a candle to the top Nashville players, and is a former sideman to anti-vax racist Eric Clapton, the permanently squabbling Everly Brothers and the fragrant Emmylou Harris.
I’m sure it will be £28 well spent.

Whilst not my favourite genre of music I do like country music and it definitely has its place in the world. Saw Luke Combs at the O2 last week and it was a great night out, 49 Winchester were the support act and I've been listening to some of their stuff this week too.

Thanks, I missed the dates local to me in SE sadly. I've seen MK in an intimate 200 seater about 10 years ago and he was amazing.

Country Albert on a Tele is amazing...

He's no less amazing on his signature Music Man, I saw him a few years ago here in Sydney supported by Ray Beadle ( also brilliant )

We share a common birth date but he got to it some years before I did and sucked all of the talent out of it smile

If we're speaking of Brit pickers, Michael Chapman (erstwhile neighbour of mine) was pretty handy too

I enjoy lots of different type of music but country is an exception. Just not for me.

With the advent of self driving cars, I'm waiting for the first C&W song where a bloke sings that his truck has left him.
