Too Drunk to **** came up randomly today which led me to a DKs playlist.
I haven't listened to them since the late 80's
Don't know why I stopped. The are so good.
I still knew nearly all the songs, even after all these years. And the words too. I never usually listen to lyrics.
Kill the Poor, Viva Las Vegas, Holiday in Cambodia.
Brilliant.
Must have made me the (weird) person I am today.

I ended up playing it by (happy) axcident in a club in Manchester back in the day. DK records usually don't have side 1/side 2, it's "this side" and "bat side"

The next door neighbour’s kid was kicking his ball against the fence while I was working in the garden office.
A perfect time to dig out Give Me Convenience… and crank it.
I rarely listen to albums in full these days but this was one of them.
Once over, the kid had gone back inside, hopefully singing Too Drunk… to his mum and getting grounded.

Saw them at Leicester Uni Percy Gee building in 1983 or 4 for all of 10 mins after being crammed in the hall for 5 hours with a bunch of the nastiest people i hope i never have to meet again.
Third song was Nazi punks FO and so ensued the worst violence i have ever witnessed first hand and in my face!
Still, amazing lyrics, delivery and a buzz saw guitar that still raises the hairs on the back of my neck.

First saw them at the Music Machine in 79l80 on their first UK tour, and I think I've seen them every UK tour since.
Now fronted by Skip (as good as Jello and less whiney. Shame that DH Peligro the drummer passed away recently, but the band are still on top form.
Saw them recently in Norwich and took my lad. Punk gigs are very polite and good matured these days.

Some great songs! I think Plastic Surgery Disasters is peak DK for me. Great mix of short raw songs and more "thoughtful" tracks like Riot and Bleed for me. I used to have their live show at Mabuhay Gardens on VHS, that's worth a watch...
Being old and having first listened to them in the 80's I'm still struck by how prescient Jello's lyrics were. Just as relevant today if not more so.
