Reading, Berkshire. 1980s.

I don't think they made it big (or even medium) and I'm pretty sure the lead singer was Andy Styles.

I turned myself into a gibbering idiot the other evening over dinner by starting to talk about the band and then immediately remembering nothing at all about them.

TYS definitely Slough. On Stifled Aardvaak records. A friend was their manager
