Acts that you didn't like when current, but now you do.
Discussion
A couple of mine:
The Cure. They didn’t register in the 80s, but I now like them. I wish I had appreciated them at the time.
In fact there are a few 80s acts that I didn’t like in the 80s, which now sound good. There is no better example than Sade, who I really disliked, but now I get it.

Steely Dan. At the time I thought they were awful, completely up their own butts. As the years have gone by, I come to realise I was absolutely right.
One of the greatest bands of all time. Some would cite The Beatles or The Beach Boys as talented songwriters, but Fagan & Becker were altogether playing a different game. Fagan is on record as describing the verse to "Peg" as being just a 12-bar blues progression! Well, yes I suppose, just using minor and major 9 chords

And, Jimmy Page is also on record stating that the intro guitar solo to "Reelin' In The Years" is 11/10 it's that good. I will admit it does need some concentration to play.
Very timely post. Going back over loads of bands I didn’t give a hoot for back in the 80’s and these are all on my playlists.
China Crisis
The Jesus and Mary Chain
Echo and the Bunnymen
Chris de Burgh
Weirdly I can’t get Dollar out of my head….argh!! Who were you with…lol.
Jimmy Somerville has recently released a new album - Dare to Love which is quite good too.

Something in period.
I didn't like Queen at all back in the day.
My mates were raving, said they were getting tickets for a concert at Earls Court, did I want one.
I declined, near the date one dropped out, I was asked if I wanted the ticket, nothing else planned, I went along.
Let's just say I was converted, buzzing, we were on the balcony, front row, right above the stage, near speakers, deaf and buzzing lol.

Fully agree, over the years I ve introduced numerous family members, friends and clients to Steely Dan s music. . I first saw them in 1974 at Leeds Uni and at Haydock Park in 2007.I still play their stuff at least a couple of times a week.Edited by Nyloc20 on Tuesday 3rd March 10:03

I am going to add Abba.
I liked them growing up, because pop. But now I understand how good they were.
Yup, Abba.I liked them growing up, because pop. But now I understand how good they were.
I'd always typecast it as one-dimensional pop, but having listened properly to their stuff, not just the 'big' tunes, and visited the Abba museum in Stockholm (Abba-mad wife!) I'm a convert. Stunning songwriting, musicianship and production.
Looking forward to Abba Voyage!
