Blimey... mate of mine has a signed George Harrison Strat. (with impeccable provenance - and when I mean impeccable, Olivia Harrison, George's wife, gave it to him). Bet that's worth a bob or two. More than Gilmore's that's for sure.

Wow - it sold for 4m USD in 2019.

Funny but dull story - I registered for the 2019 auction thinking I might get lucky and snipe a bit of a Gilmour bargain. The estimate prices were all crazy low. When you register for an auction they credit check you and give you a bid limit. I have no idea how they came up with mine which was 60K sterling. I was thinking maybe 6k would be my spend limit hehe Anyway first guitar up for auction was his white strat, used to record bit of the Wall and the opening bid was 75K. That's me told then biggrin

I remember back in the early 90s being interested in a 1950's stratocaster, and being lined up with someone acting for a then undisclosed celebrity musician who was very poorly and looking to offload some of his instruments. Sadly it never went anywhere and I bought a then brand new Strat Ultra.

I still have it, and its funny to think that guitar is now relatively older than the pre-CBS strat I was after at the time. Where did that time go...

It's one of those guitars though, isn't it? Used to record iconic tunes by a player who is a guitar hero for many (me included).

I'd imagine big bucks would be paid for others like:-

Clapton's "Blackie" Strat
Gibbons' "Pearly Gates" Les Paul
SRV's "#1" Strat
EVH's "Frankenstrat"
Willie Nelson's "Trigger"

I believe Kirk Hammett recently bought the ex-Peter Green / Gary Moore Les Paul, which I imagine would have been $5 mil +

He's had it since 2014. He says he didn't even pay half a million for it. (I appreciate that's still a helluva lotta cash).

Him saying it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXdh1Tck9nU&t=...

I think the frankenstrat and red special are probably the most valuable as they are relatively unique compared to a strat or les Paul .

Gilmour.

A guitar signed by George Harrison, fair enough, but Gilmour's Strat has provenance in that it was used during Floyd's golden period.

I wonder what Jimmy Pages double neck 6/12 string Gibson From Song Remains The Same would be worth?
