This has probably been done before but as an intro I don't think this will ever be beaten. New Order Blue Monday, Im sure we all know it but

I'd also nominate this - Sweet Home Alabama. Obviously not "policitally correct" but the way they rouse the crowd with the guitar riff could probably raise the dead

The LAs - There She Goes
ELO - 10538 Overture

Somebody To Love - Jefferson Airplane, uncommon pop song, as it has no intro.

If not up there with the best, it must be one of the longest. Baba O'riley

Best in what sense?

Sweet Child o Mine is beautiful

but for impact you want an air attack warning.

Can’t argue with these suggestions but will add Superstition by Stevie Wonder.

I like Brian Eno's introduction to 'Where the Streets Have No Name'.

One of their best ever songs, from their best album. Visions of China has a good intro too. The sounds that Richard Barbieri conjured using his Prophet 5 synthesiser are as astounding now as they were 45 years ago when I first heard this album as an 11 year old.
