No it isn't - sorry. Just nostalgia for your lost youth temporarily clouding your judgment. It was crap then and it's still crap.

However to continue the discussion I offer the latest Take That album.

The first album by The Feeling - I know any serious musos are supposed to hate them with a passion and whinge on about how naff and commercial they are, but I think it's a great example of guitar-pop.

But if I had to pick one - Time by ELO. Cheesy and absolutely brilliant all at the same time.

Although quite cheesy now I used to really be into Status Quo (up until about 1983, then I started listening to Maiden), theres a certain nostalgic quality to hearing these records now in limited bursts.

Albums that are sad, but brilliant?

Sad as the emotion, I'd have to say I like American Pie by Don McLean.

Sad as in only a tool should like it, I'd nominate Bryan Adams Unplugged.

Welcome to the Pleasuredome - Frankie Goes to Hollywood

This sounds out of this world on a good hi fi - the effect and imagery are amazing. Be sure to get the vinyl version though.

Brilliant album - produced by a master of the art.

Listen to Seal's first album again recently and the attention to detail in the production is stunning.
