I saw them last year, they're not the Deep Purple of old but still a great show, Steve Morse is a very good guitarist and Don Airey sounds pretty much like Jon Lord to me, Glover & Paice are still great, Gillan can't quite get the high notes any more but overall still well worth seeing IMHO.

I agree with the 'yay-votes'.. Ian Gillan has calmed the vocals down a bit and they have got older but the last time i saw them they all seemed to really enjoy what they do and that really shows in their performances.
Ian Paice is still an Ace Drummer and Steve Morse has never got the credit he deserves IMO..
A great band without the Ego battles of old.

First saw Deep Purple at Manchester Belle Vue in early 1974, on Coverdale and Hughes's first UK tour...great gig.....
They have been through loads of personel changes since, but they still rock...

I saw the previous model...Glover,Paice,Blackmore,Gillan and Lord, and then the Hughes/Coverdale version...think I preferred the former...They have been through loads of personel changes since, but they still rock...

Thread resurrection.
Looks like another change has or will be occurring. Steve Morse has announced he has officially left the band to care for his ill wife

are they worth seeing live in this day and age ? they're playing 3 nights in the amphitheater next to us and I've been 'invited' by some lad who works there.
should I bother, or not really ?
Yes, should be good, 2nd night will likely be the best performanceshould I bother, or not really ?

For a short while supergroup Living Loud included all of Jimmy Barnes (above), Steve Morse and Don (Deep Purple) Airey. Well worth tracking down their 2009 album "Living Loud" if you can.
