Is there a website like for instance MySpace where artists have their pages and music player but also gives you the ability to download the songs they have on there?

Go to the band in question's website. They often have mp3s to download.

I doubt there are any well known artists there, but a lot of the ones that are there could teach the well known ones a thing or two.
