I "think" the best gigs I ever went to were (in order):

1) Joy Division 1979 at ULU

2) The Clash 1978 Victoria Park Rock against Racism

3) Bobby Womack (circa) 1986 Hammersmith

1) Muse, Glasto
2) Faithless, Glasto
3) Superfly, Rond Point des Pistes Merribel

Probably. I know the first two are in the right place. Have to say Radiohead and Faithless at Glasto in the early noughties (I forget which ones) were also good. A small prize (ok, I made that up, but a glowing sense of soft rock trivia) to anyone who can tell me what the third band are now known as! wink

1) The Rolling Stones & Roy Orbison 1965
2) Pink Floyd around 1970
3) Keith Urban 2007

Most memorable but definitely not anywhere near the best, the Beatles 1964.

1.Metallica - MEN Arena 2009
2.Reel Big Fish - Manchester Academy 2008
3.Hootie and the Blowfish - AVLC 1999 (might have been 1998 actually)

1] manic street preachers at bridlington spa, 98-99 ish.

2] the who, super furry animals and the flaming lips at harewood house, '06

=3] blur at hyde park last month
=3] neil young at hyde park in june
=3] arcade fire at the union chapel

2.Dio at Shepards Bush 08=Last night MetalFest, Sylosis were unreal!
3.Either Queensryche in Bristol 08 or any St George's day Saxon gig ( Ihave a Paul Quinn pic as well smile )

Blimey thats a difficult one as for me it changes all the time!!

Guess:

1. Queen Wembley, 86 (probably more for the event nature of it - it pissed down as well!)
2. Stone Roses - Spike Island (Sound was shocking and I have never been to a gig where the whole audience are in a bit of a mess!!! LOL!)
3. Levellers - Glasto 92, Sunday afternoon as I remember about 4 o'clock, perfect union of time, venue and weather!!!

But ask tomorrow and I guess it would change! All the gigs I have been too recently with the exception of Blur and hyde park and gaslight anthem at the forum have been ste!

Toughie but I'd have to say probably:

Metallica - Justice for all tour (88ish) Hammersmith Odeon (as it was back then)
Chemical Brothers - Push the Button tour (2005) Brixton Academy
Supergrass - 10th Anniversary tour London Astoria (2004)

Both the Beastie Boys at Camden Roundhouse in 2008 and Nine Inch Nails at the O2 last month were strong contenders though.

I won't include raves or Dj's in this, just gigs. In no order

Fugazi - a few times - eighties onwards
Pixies - Scarborough - late eighties
Butthole Surfers - Manchester/Glasgow - 2008
Throbbing Gristle - Glasgow - 2009

or Swans
or Nirvana

in fact I can't do just three, sorry

Both good calls, that RATM gig must have been a while ago. Though you reminded me of Tool with Mastodon supporting in Glasgow '06 and I'm sure I saw them in the 90's sometime. Superb live band.

Saw Tool, 23 Feb 1993 at the Riverside n Newcastle \m/

eta: date confirmation, thanks to my mate
