Would have been 60 today.

Just thought I'd say that.

I like Thin Lizzy. I used to think Phil Lynott was very cool, you couldn't categorise him.

I can't remember the name but I stumbled across a pub in Cork which was like a shrine to Phil with pics of him and the band and loads of memorabilia and press cuttings all over the walls. Spent a few happy hours in there listening to the music!

Was listening to a couple of the albums recently. A waste he died so young. Brian was a great drummer as well.

I remember one of my mates (now a C of E vicar) coming home from Lampeter University in 1970 and telling me about a terrific Irish band he'd seen at the Students' Union...

Seen Lizzy live at the Magnum in Irvine, must have been around 80/81, then Grand Slam with Phil at the Pavillion in Ayr a few years later.

Brilliant on both occasions.

Very slowly for those up the back.

My GM is Irish and a bunch of kids he went to school with formed a band and called themselves Skid Row and Skid Row became ...

The bit about Rory is a bit of an obscure and inconsequential comment but he is the only blues player the John really likes.

Nope. Still don't get it. Who did Skid Row become? Certainly not Thin Lizzy, although I'll concede that Gary Moore joined them a few years later.

And who is the 'John'?

I thought Grandmother to begin with, but then 'he' formed a band. Maybe Wayne/Jayne County? The only transexual band member I can think of, although there may well be others.
Also, I haven't a clue who 'huge Rory' is. Any relation to Bigelf, maybe? They're rather good.
