Anyone else on here been to/going to see them on their current tour?
I caught them on monday in Southampton.....jesus they were good. The first time I saw them was in Bristol in about 1998/9 just after "around the fur" came out - it was my first ever gig back then.
I've stuck with them during the "fat chino" stage when he couldn't hit any of the notes and he was pretty much off his face all the time. To see them completely back on form and seemingly having the time of their lives playing their music again was incredible.
Highly recommended if you're thinking about checking them out, and the cocaine diet seems to have done wonders for Chinos' figure!

I've seen Deftones a few times now. Lastly on the Saturday Night Wrist tour a few years ago. From what I have seen, they have always been fantastic live, they have such a big sound.
Haven't seen them on this tour, however I have only heard great things, both in terms of outright performance and setlist choices.

I've got to be in the mood for it, but when I am in that mood they are absolutely sublime - When Girls Telephone Boys, Needles and Pins and Hexagrams being particular favourites from their newer stuff. My Own Summer and Be Quiet and Drive are probably some of my favourite metal songs of all time.

it's the deceptive simplicity that gets me....when girls telephone boys is a perfect example......you work the riff out in 2 minutes flat......but you didn't think of it! we can all paint in the style of picasso. but he did it first!...the weight of sound that carpenter generates is incredible, and when you get those odd chord progressions coupled with moreno's frankly weird melody lines magic happensMoominho said:
