Music Pubs in London

Hello

A couple of weeks ago I was in London with a couple of mates and we fancied a few beers and a bit of live music on a Saturday afternoon/evening - not big venues but pubs or bars playing blues/rock type stuff.

Any recomendations ?

The Blues Kitchen on Camden High Street is quite a cool little place, I think they have bands on most weekend nights.

If you fancy a bit of DIY music with a live band, you could try the Roadhouse in Covent Garden. On certain nights they have karaoke with a live band. Don't expect to win as half of the performing arts trainees and show girls are singing - far better than the X-factor.

Yep, can 2nd that... it is a fun night out thing.. if you like that sort of thing... (not very blues/rock though)

Whoops - yup it is not pure rock / blues, but it is unusual.

But, I can say for sure that they did Sweet Home Alabama with some old git on the night I was there...

They have a pretty wide range of songs (for a live band) across a number of genres.

yes, ive enjoyed the half moon a few times and also saw a mate play at the Troubadour a few months back

Ooh, forgot that one - I played there last year, nice venue, and a good history. I think the campaign to keep it open is going ok...

Might be worth checking out the Dublin Castle as well, that's got a good reputation.

100 Club on Oxford St always worth a punt (prolly a small door fee), enjoy while it's still there

Around Midnight in Angel and Ain't nothing but the blues bar behind Carnaby Street have good bluesy stuff on.

Then there's the usual pub circuit, the Dublin Castle and Hope & Anchor as already mentioned, the Bull and Gate, Fiddlers Elbow etc. Quite a few about but very hit and miss as to whether you'll get anyone good on.
