Your Supergroup!
Discussion
Choose your fantasy band with a singer, lead guitarist, rhythm gutarist, bassist, and a drummer. Keyboards are optional. There is only one rule: members must be alive.
For me:
Vocals: Julian Casablancas (The Strokes)
Lead Guitar: David Gilmour (Pink Floyd)
Rhythm guitar: The Edge (U2)
Bass: Flea(RHCP)
Drummer: Taylor Hawkins (Foo Fighters and easily on par with Dave Grohl IMO)

Vocals - Robin Zander (Cheap Trick)
Bass - Geddy Lee (Rush)
Drums - Simon Philips (Toto/Judas Priest etc)
Guitar/Vocals - Todd Rundgren (er, Todd Rungren / Utopia / The Nazz)
Guitar - Steve Lukather (Toto)
Keys - Keith Emerson (ELP)
At least for a Rock supergroup anyway.
There are so many uber talented people its pretty hard to just make the one choice isnt it, I'll probably change my mind in 20 minutes. Lets face it, Rick Wakeman is just as talented as Emerson, Kasim Sultan from Todd Rundgrens bands would be just as good a replacement for Geddy Lee (well probably), Neal Peart on the drums , the list goes on.

Guitar: John Petrucci
Bass: John Myung
Drums: Mike Portnoy
Keys: Jordan Rudess
Vocal: Someone other than James LaBrie
I'm not doing this right, am I...?
Actually my only gripe with Dream Theater was LaBrie's vocals. I always thought they weren't up to the awesomeness of the rest of the band. Shame Mike's left really.

Drums - Phil Collins (Genesis) - as long as he promises NOT to sing or have a hand in writing any of the songs
Bass - Chris Squire (Yes)
Guitar - Andy Latimer (Camel)
Vocals - Justin Hayward (Moody Blues) - as long as he brings his guitar with him
Keyboards - me. You don't think I'd form a band like that and not be in it do you?

Great thread!
Vox: Chris Cornell
Guitar 1 - lead: Jeff Beck
Guitar 2 - rhythm: Dave Mustaine
Bass: Flea
Drums: Nick Menza
I love the idea of DM being his usual automaton, playing 16ths to metronomic and beyond whilst JB is noodling around it - seemingly out of time but somehow making it all sound good - and annoying DM. Flea just goes with it. Menza drives it, loudly, in whatever time signature is needed and CC's voice wrapping it all up with the sense of doom / anger / frustration / desolation / sensitivity the tune requires.

I've listened to pull me under tens of times, and it still throws something new at me every time.
I'd have
Guitar 1 - Paul Gilbert
Guitar 2 - Joe Perry
Bass - Stever Harris
Drums - Mike Portnoy, or Stanton Moore depending what sort of music we're doing
Vocals - Freddie Mercury

if were talking supergroups then surely les claypool from primus should be on bass
I don't know, I like his style but it is loose and very sloppy, a very unique musician for sure but I don't know where his style would fit other than in Primus and other bands where he is the primary composer.Gassing Station | Music | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
