I always thought they were massively underrated, they were one of the bands that led to me picking up the bass. I knew they'd split a while ago, and was absolutely gutted because I turned down the chance to see them at Astoria a few years back.

Anyway, I thought I'd give a heads up that they're doing some farewell shows, in London and Leeds. Praying that the tickets don't sell out before Payday frown But they're supposed to be amazing live.

For people who haven't heard of them, here are a few tracks I like.

Welcome to the North
Getaway (probably my favourite track by them, so simple but brilliant IMO)
The Dance
The Dance (live) <<< You may be able to see why I thought bass was the way to go! biggrin

I think Take the Long Road is by far their best song. As the years went on, their direction changed a bit.

When I first head this song(below), I became a fan. They didn't want to play in London at first, but did play in Kingston. I went down there, with no ticket..and couldn't get in as it was sold out. Gutted. Ended up seeing them at Reading a couple of times. A great live band, thanks to Robert Harvey, on vocals.

I was just going to say that I'm sure he will stick at music, and on doing some research, he is. Unfortunately, it's been with The Streets recently.

Yeah I like them. Great combination of rhythm, great vocals and guitarist. It is a shame they never really broke through, but their debut is easily their best album (followed by the third which I liked a lot, but haven't listened to in ages).

Absolutely loved Freedom Fighters which led to me getting a couple of their albums, but never really got into them. Actually no recollection why - just didn't listen to either more than a couple of times. Suspect I was buying quite a lot of music at the time and never really gave their albums a chance.

I went to school with Phil Jordan, who drummed for The Music. They were called Insense before they changed their name to The Music... and I saw them play at a WMC in Kippax in 1998 when my friend Alex played keys for them smile

There are great moments on all 3 albums, although the first is their strongest even if it is heavily inspired by Stone Roses. The "best of" that EMI released is on Spotify, check out "Jag Tune".. its a cracker!!!

I sort of liked this band and bought their first album. But never more than that and I'd completely forgotten about them untill I saw TT3D the other week and The Getaway was in one of the montage sequences. I won't miss them, but I'm listening to them again.

Great band. Seen them live twice in Leeds and once at Huddersfield Uni - all quality gigs.

First album is their best IMO.

I was a fan of the first album when it came out, but I misplaced it at some point in the years since. So I bought it again off Amazon late last year... and now I can't find the damn thing anywhere.

i was in the year above rob and adam. incense were truly rubbish but hardly different to the rest of the school bands at the time. was nice to see them do well but for some reason i just can't get into them. i like a few songs, but on the whole i find them average.

kippi wmc though, walked home very drunk from there many a time...

Brilliant band live, I saw them a few years back in the Glasgow Barrowlands, perfect venue for them - glad I got to see them whilst they were around!
