Cross Emirates Vehicle Registration

I've had enough of renting and want to purchase my first vehicle since arriving in the UAE. I live in Abu Dhabi, but my visa and driving license are from Dubai.

Does anyone know in which emirate I would need to have my vehicle registered?

You can do either.

It would be easier to do it in Dubai as that's where your visa'd. However, you could do it in Abu Dhabi too if you show copies of your tenancy contract etc.

I was visa'd in Abu Dhabi, but always ran my cars through Dubai as that's where I lived.

You may find it depends on who you speak to at the RTA, I sold a car to a guy whose visa was from Abu Dhabi but who lived in DXB and DXB RTA refused to register the car here.
We had to de-register it from DXB and re-register in Ab Dabs...... this was 3 years ago though so it may well all have changed since.

Bought many a car in DXB (where I live) but on AUH Visa.

Take a copy of your DXB tenancy contract and DEWA bill, plus the usual paperwork and you should be fine.
