I ended up going to my first hillclimb event over the weekend and have finally decided to get a thread up showing some of the pics I took, the camera wasn't the best as it's fairly old but it was all that was available. Also saw my first PH sticker although it was one in the windscreen that said sunday service so not a real one wink (it was on an 11 plate BMW if it was you?)
Anyway on with the pictures!

You went to a round of the national championship, which is fine if you are interested in the spectacularly quick hilclimb single seat race cars. They are incredible to see off the start line and round hollow bend flat at about 150 mph. If you enjoyed the day out try the Gurston meeting on the 11th which is the last round of the local championship. The club events are less focused on the big boys slightly more relaxed but still with lots of close action.

I only went as i'm down at my parents place in Templecombe in Somerset, it was a great meeting and wasn't aware it was a national championship I witnessed.

The next time i'm down here though i'll definitely be on the checkout for when the next events are, it was definitely a great way to spend a tenner if your a petrolhead biggrin

If you are down that way take a look at Wiscombe as well, that is not too far from you.

The diversity of cars is one of the things I like most about hillclimbs. I think I'm going to try and enter an event or two at Gurston myself. I also thought that Prescott was an excellent venue.

That's definitely something I like about it too, from original Audi Quattro's to spaceframed chassis' with twin bike engines it certainly draws many different cars which is good to keep it fresh!

I'm certainly going to start looking at getting to more hillclimb events from now on biggrin

I saw a VW Golf at Prescott a couple of weeks back that usually competes in the Berg Cup in Germany. Certainly very quick!

That's really interesting and a good read, thanks!

I did notice however that it was still a rolling chassis on the trailer on the weekend, I haven't found in that thread whether it has had an engine or not yet biggrin

Well done, Tom, for trawling through all 20 pages on that thread! The engine is basically built, we're just waiting for some info from Hewland on the final design of the gearbox internals, so the engine builder(John Hartley) can finish his design of the back plate. We still have a fair way to go, but hope to be up and running sometime next season. I'll keep updating the F1technical thread from time to time for those who might be interested.

Well I'll be competing at Gurston this weekend, in the Lotus 7 Speed Championship, Car 132.

First time up this particular hill, looking forward to a good weekend :-)
