Discussion
Thinking of doing some Club100 kart events next year, having sprinted a car for the last two years. I was wondering what the regs are in terms of equipment. I have the following:
BS6658-85 Type A/FR helmet (open face)
ECE 22.05 bike helmet (full face) -- no ACU stickers
FIA8856-2000 overalls
FIA8856-2000 gloves
FIA8856-2000 boots
Is any of this stuff suitable for karting or do I have to buy CIK-certified stuff?

With C100 you can wear any boots and gloves. Lots of people wear trainers, etc, and motorbike gloves.
You can use bike helmets, I did for 7years. Don't use an open face one though. I have seen people use the flip front
Not sure on race suit, but worth calling C100 to check. Probably could as I think people have in the past.
if you are doing one race you can hire a suit from them on the day.
C100 is non-msa, so does not need full msa approved kit.

As others have said, open face helmets wont be allowed in club100, but given that as of 01/01/2010, BSi 6658-85 Type A was no longer eligible for MSA events, it cant be used for sprinting either!
ECE 22.05 is not valid for MSA events either but this may not be an issue as C100 doesnt run to MSA regs. However, as others have said, 22.05 can refer to flip front and full face helmets but i would not go racing with a fip front helmet. Given there seem to be no clear sstandards that C100 insist your helmet complies to, you cant be sure that the circuit you are racing at will allow it.
If you want to continue sprinting too you will need a new lid.

It's Type A/FR and hence eligible, but I wasn't planning to kart in an open-face.pablo said:

Nope, Type A/FR is valid until at least 01/01/16 (shown as "may be withdrawn" in this year's blue book).carl_w said:
