Budget Racing Seat
Discussion
I have a budget of upto £190 for a race set for my Saxo Tin Top track/race car.
Can any one recommend a suitable one for this budget? I am 6'0 and slim so I guess I won't be restricted to much. It needs to be legal for most tin top style race series.
I have looked at the Cobra Monaco Pro and the Sparco Sprint 5 if anyone can advise on if they are suitable/any good?
Thanks in advance.

What certification are you talking about? Read the Rac blue book,no fia certification is needed for uk club racing,it does you tell what you need to know about mounting your seat to a satifactory standard. The seats you mentioned would be ok for your car, just put it in the car to a good standard.
There is no date requirements for MSA racing.
Best advice is sit in a few before you buy one. I went to Autosport last year couldn't find one that fitted.
I'm 6' tall, but seem to have a long upper body, I ended up at motordrive in manchester www.motordrive.com , spent a saturday morning there trying things, then they made one to fit me, for alot less money than you'd expect (was a bit more than £190 though).

Sprint 5 is fine if you are slim, I am anything but slim and found them quite comfortable. Less upper body support than a higher end seat and no removeable cushions.
Really they are like shoes, you need to try them and see what you are comfortable with. I tried a similar size and design Cobra and found it dug in all over the place and there was a bit of 'gentlemans pinch' going on so it would have been useless on track with some G's pushing me around.
