Hi guys, I am doing the trackday and team trophy this year, with this:

http://s1066.photobucket.com/albums/u417/c4shoney/...

But what I need is to get a full face helmet, shoes and suit. I live near Guildford, surry. Where is the best place? Don't mind a bit of a journey. And what would you recommend? Hans? Bell helmet?

Cheers

Stand 21 are actually based at Brands Hatch, they are good but arent cheap.

Demon Tweeks are a good bet, and if you travel down to Ashford in Kent i think AWS are based there. They do good race suits.

Try www.ten-tenths.com and the racers section, lots of good advice there.

Will you be racing this weekend? Cutting it close if so!

I can highly recommend AWS for race suits Nick and the guys down there do very good suits either off the peg or custom made at very good prices and not to far from you in Ashford Kent.

A note of caution. 2003 to 2007 we used to race regularly, various single seaters. We had a racer's discount card from Demon Tweeks and used to buy a lot of stuff from them. They seemed very competitive and with the 10% off were the place to shop.

We recently bought an F305 Dallara and are going to do the F3 Cup this year, just for fun, really as we're too busy with life in gemeral to put 100% into it.

Now we have had to buy a lot of stuff that we sold off with our FR back in 2007. Corner weight scales, engine pre heater, various fluids, air lifters, quicklifts, stands, air tools, clothing, etc.

DT no longer give discounts and we have found significantly cheaper supplies of everything from other places.

I don't know whether the www has left them behind over the last few years but, as they say, it pays to shop around!!

Try Racelidz for the cheapest suits & helmets around, all their suits are Fia approved, also their helmets are approved as well, seen all their kit and looks fine, plus the postal service from them is excellent.

are grand prix racewear still just outside london?

Boots and gloves are easily measured and you can get a good deal if you buy online but i would recommend trying on a few suits and to be honest, it helps if you can sit in a race seat too, especially for overalls as some have nice expanding panels at the back and others dont. things like articulated sleeves are really comfortable too, especially for saloons where you are more upright than a single seater.

i really wanted a particular kart suit, went to a shop, tried it on, sat in a kart and found i could barely move my upper body in it.

Good advice above about trying kit before you buy. This is particularly important with helmets too as different shaped heads fit different brands of helmets better or worse irrespective of the helmet size. Arai and Bell are amoung the best but there are plenty of other less expensive makes that still meet the requirements.

Anpther recommendation for MSAR from me - especially as you aren't far away from them! Get in touch and you should be able to pop down to try some helmets on as I did - now that's good service!
