Anyone entered the All Circuits Sprint championship..
Discussion
Hi guys,
Just wanted some advice, i'm thinking of entering the above sprint series in my Impreza, which i'd enter as a production car I guess, just think i have have a couple of problems,
Firstly, i cant find detailed info on how 'production' the car has to be! I understand exhausts are free, which is good as I have a full turbo back exhaust system. But i believe i need to refit a cat? Don't have one at the moment but its not a major issue.
The other issue is my intercooler, the MSA Blue book states induction & exhaust for production cars is free, but does that go for a front mount intercooler?
I track the car as much as possible & i've been advised the TMIC isn't good when the car is held at high ravs for any length of time.
But i don't want to change my intercooler just for one sprint series! So if my FMIC isn't allowed i think i'll have to give the series a miss, which i'd rather not do, but my Impreza is no where near modified enough to be competitive in the modified series!
I think it complies with the MSA definition of production but it seems the All Circuits Championship is stricter in terms of modifications.
If i can't enter that then i'll have to either replace standard 'cooler, or go for a different series.
Any advise or feedback would be useful.
Thanks guys,
James

In terms of restrictions, there aren't many..
"For Road-Going Series Production Cars, the cylinder block and cylinder head must remain in the original position and be externally identifiable as that fitted to the original model or specified option.
Induction is free, as are exhaust systems, but must remain in the same capacity class as the original car or the manufacturer’s specified option for the model and engine."
So in all road production classes, there will be kit with plenty of grunt...
I'm going to do a few events this yeat in the south west, but in much more standard gear.

Hmm... Sounds like I could be against some pretty quick stuff! Still be fun I guess
I'm really not sure what to do, was thinking of selling the Impreza & buting an MR2 for the 750MC MR2 championship, but i thought i may miss the power of the Impreza on track days.
Guess the best bet would be to get to a few sprint events & see how i get on.
Cheers mate,
James

I did the all circuits championship last year in my CSL
In an Impreza you'll be up against some serious cars as pretty much everything 4wd ends up in the same class. At goodwood I'd expect to see at least 1 new GTR and Paul in his 500-600BHP R34 skyline does quite a few rounds.
Still a great way to get into motorsport

Hi Andy,
Thats what i was worried about!!
Was considering selling the Impreza in favor of an MR2 to enter the 750MC MR2 championship, i don't know what to do!
I'm sure sprinting is fun regardless of how quick my car would be, but could get depressing having everyone else much faster!
Are all the sprint series that way? The HSA championship seems to have some good events, and maybe its a bit more even in terms of competition?
Thanks for the advice mate,
James

I think most of the series in the south east run to similar regs, the GTR's didn't seam to be out all that much last year.
On the airfileds ( north weald and debden) there seamed to be a few mildly tweaked impreza's to compete against, you'll also often find that different people end up doing different events, I won the all circuits last year but was normally beaten by the GT3's on the track, however they wouldn't do goodwood.
If your tempted to to the MR2 racing could look at buying one, and sprinting it this year to get used to it as you modify it for racing, lot's of the mods allowed in the race series will be fine for the production classes of sprinting such as brakes, suspension, race seat, harnesses, cage etc.
I don't know the MR2 regs but suspect the biggest thing which will move you in to the modified production sprint class would be when you start stripping lots of the interior out.
