The carping on Youtube had me in stitches. The Miglia didn't interfere - it handed you your ar$e on a plate. Real racing car you see ;-). The 1000cc Se7ens were running 1.36 in the wet...

Then you've missed the point. The Mini was a guest in the MR2 qualifying session because for whatever reason it had missed it's own. It's lap times don't count and it's there simply to complete the three laps required to qualify for it's race. Out of courtesy you would expect the driver to recognise that the other cars *are* qualifying for position and to stay out of their way.

Errr... it *did*. No apex's were compromised and then *it* disappeared off into the middle distance. rofl

The mini positioned itself in such a way that it compromised the MR2s braking into the corner.

Into Quarry - so it was behind the MR2? Then it rounded the MR2 and cleared off putting so much clear road inbetween that the MR2 could pick his/her lines rofl You'd do a great line in stand up.

You seem intent on pointing out that the mini was quicker then the MR2. We accept that. But it doesn't confer any special rights on the car.

Watch the video. Watch the MR2 driver's reaction to the mini. As a guest in the MR2 session, the mini should not be interfering with those drivers who were qualifying.

Ooh, what have a missed.

Just to clarify I wasn't particularly carping on about the mini but I probably WOULD have if that was my legitimate quali lap. It was lap 2 on just a brisk sighter which unfortunately did turn out to be my best lap <cough>

Unfortunately I didnt know the mini driver, or what tyres he was on, of what the hell he was going to do if he had got past me up Avon rise. I've done dozens of multi class races where someone has barreled up behind, slipped by and then poodled round the corner on the line.

It's happened before at Combe and here is the video to demonstate.

I had a healthy (class) lead here and this guy gets by and holds me up, allowing others to catch me.

And this is part 2 where the other MX5s are right on my tail, and a yellow (Civic I think) trying a similar move to the mini, gets by on the way up Avon rise but is so slow on the approach to Quarry I get back past again. He holds me up again under braking into Quarry and 2 MX5s get by (I did get back past later however) ;-)

No problem with this, just part of multi class racing but my point is that, the mini didnt particularly block me, or 'hold me up' but he most definitely put me off (see the driver cam) and 'interfere' with our quali session. I'm sure he is a very capable driver but his times would not count and so no reason to put himself in that position.

The 0.4 mentioned was just based on that sector vs my best sector in that session.

Why be abusive? Clearly, that's because you don't have any facts to support your argument.

Sorry, can't resist ... I know I should ... but what the hell ...

If you give out the ammunition then expect someone to use it against you.

Urm, the mini's are road cars that have been modified for racing .. as are the MR2s. I have a 250bhp Honda powered Elise that's quicker round Combe than your Se7ens, and one of my day jobs is doing high speed passenger laps in a 450bhp V8 Supercar, that will see them off as well ... you're point is?

I know you are a fan of these funny little cars but fact is 'he' did interfere .. it's not a 'real' racing car and it's not the fastest thing round Combe or any other circuit.

FWIW I'm also a fan of the mini and love watching the racing, i've a few buddies involved ... I just prefer to race something with the engine and the drive at the proper end smile
