Would a 6 mounting point weld in cage give any benefits over a bolt in even though its not connected to any suspension points?

Theoretically yes, if properly designed, and depending on the type of foot mounting/design of the bolt in cage.

Either will give a good benefit over nothing, especially if you go AoT in it.

Are you going to weld in floor strengthening plates? No point just bolting a cage to the floor alone, as in the event of an impact/roll it'll probably just punch through and tear the metal.

If you're fitting a cage, be sure to do it right.

All of the homologation specs i have ever seen specify a plate footing for the cage when joining it to the chassis.
CAMS Manual said:
Each mounting foot must be attached by at least three bolts on a steel reinforcement plate at least 3mm thick and of at least 12,000mm2 area which is welded to the bodyshell.
Thats from the CAMS manual, which is sourced from the FIA for ROPS and is for a bolt in cage option. Welded is the same except obviously without bolts.

I would have thought that for a weld in to really be of much benefit in stiffening a car it would have to have close weld in points to the A and B pillars and/or windscreen header.
