road rally engine swap options (not WAMC)
Discussion
Could anyone please offer a second opinion on whether the following engine swaps would be allowed by the current MSA road rally regs. (Note - I'm not referring to the separate requirements of the WAMC!!!)
1. Nova GTE
replace standard 1.6 8v injected engine with a 1.6 16v injected engine
2. Skoda Felicia
replace standard 1.3 injected engine with a 1.6 injected engine that was also available in the range
3. Skoda Favorit 1989
replace standard 1.3 carb engine with a 1.3 injected engine that was available in the range but not until after 1989
I think the answer is:
1 - allowed
2 - allowed
3 - not 100% sure about this but I think it's allowed

My understanding is they are all allowed under current rules. I'm not dead sure about the new proposals which may or may not come in next year (loosely based on the WAMC rule) which limit's capacity to the maximum of that particular model, but as you are keeping the capacities the same I see no issue.
Is the Skoda a twincam engine?, if so I think you have to keep the fuel injection as supplied on that engine, if it's single cam I don't think it matters.
Best checking this on the technical forum of BRF

Oh no, not BRF...!Best checking this on the technical forum of BRF
Thinking about it, swapping from carb to injection on the Favorit isn't likely to be a problem as it'd take a bit of a nerd to know that although fuel injection was available on that model, it wasn't until 2 years later. I don't think I've got much to worry about...
Both Skoda engines referred to are single cam and not likely to set the world alight.
