Hi all,

I'm hearing that Red Dragon Racing, who run the jap car series (plus some other series) are thinking about a french marque type race series.
There are series out there for virtually every other marque so why not a French one....

Running a series for Renaults, Peugeots & Citroens is long overdue. There are plenty of French race cars out there completing regularly, just look at CSCC tin-tops plenty of French cars racing here.
Get the regs right and it will be definate success in my opinion, what about yours then guys?

anyone heard about this as well?

Not sure if you've seen the thread below from red dragons site:

http://www.reddragonraceandtrackclub.com/forum/vie...

I didn't think all the plans were finalised yet, but it does seem from posts today that French cars are definitely going to be welcome next year.

I've been racing in mr2s with red dragon this year and can recommend the club and confirm that there is the good paddock atmosphere that everyone always wants!

There must be plenty of clio cup cars out there, so I could see this being a success just for that reason alone.

I'm sure it will be success, but it all depends on how they structure the classes.

Sure there are many Clio's out there, but also there are as many 205 gti's/106's/Saxo's in different guises that would want to race in a French race series so I'm hearing, but put a 8v car against a modern Clio would be unfair, so class structure is paramount.I hope the Red Dragon boys get it right.

IMO this is ridiculous. There are already too many series and too many that are poorly supported. Perhaps some of the dross should be cleared out first?

No, I totally disagree.

Although there is too many series out there, this series is bang on for demand IMO.

Although, I do think some series should be cleared out.

Those two sentences encapsulate the problem with the plethora of new series popping up all over the place. If cars are competing regularly in existing championships, why do they need a new series?

oh great another championship to dilute existing grids. It's not like french cars can't already race somewhere at the moment is it!

It's the poorly subscribed championships and series that need looking at.
This one is a good idea. It's different from Tin Tops as the races are shorter, and you get two in a day (if they use the Nippon model.)

the following all do 2 shorter races in one day & already have this type of car in them : eurosaloons, classic thunder, northern saloons, DMN, CNC heads NW, castle combe saloons etc etc.
I used to race one of the VLR peugeot 306's a few years ago in the 750 hot hatch (which now wins in the tin tops) & that championship used to be a well supported & popular then lots of new chamionships for similar cars started poping up 2007 on over & instead of one championship having 30+ grids you then, & since have had lots more champsionships but with much fews cars racing in them, MSV didnt help at all

Andy, I have done several rounds of CNC over the past 3 years.
It's no fun watching your mirrors after 3 laps whilst the leaders come whistling by. The same for Eurosaloons. But I love watching both championships.
Tin Tops, MSV and this new series mandate List1B tyres rather than slicks. It's a different ball game and shouldn't be compared to the championships you mention.
There is a lot of interest already and I received this info earlier today:

RACE SERIES UPDATE .

As things stand we intend to run FRENCH TROHPY RACE SERIES specifically for
Peugeot Citroen and Renault, and there will be 14 races over 7 weekends at circuits
throughout the country including Brands Hatch , Silverstone Donnington etc. If we
get sufficient interest we will have Tv coverage.

The class structure whilst not set in stone will be provisionally for the initial season
which can then be tweaked for year tow to suit the cars actually racing.
Class A 1601-2000cc multi valve
Class B 1601-2000cc dual valve
Class C up to 1600cc Multi Valve
Class D up to 1600cc Dual Valve
Diesel turbo cars to run in class A

This should accommodate most of the Clio’s , 306’s , 106’s 205 & Saxo’s currently
out racing in other series plus allow for the more modern cars such as Megan’s and ,
DS Citroen series cars.. All cars would run on treaded tyres listed in the blue book.

Should we achieve a good level of support we intend to provide tv coverage for some
if not all the events in 2013

Or in other words we couldn't be bothered to come up with something completely new, so we thought we would take competitors from elsewhere.

The purpose of a new series at this level of motorsport, should be to bring new people to the sport, or to fill a niche in the market where cars are currently sitting in garages with no where to race. Let's face it, this does neither.

I think it will attract a lot of interest & should have a good following . I to have done some CNC heads over the last couple of years in my Clio, you do spend most of the time looking in your mirrors waiting for the much quicker cars to come through.
I have spoken to & done aprox 6 ARDS tests recently for new racers with Clio's who are all wanting to race them, also I know a few guys with old cup cars who I think would be interested!

There doesn't seem to be many series' where clios are front running cars (from what I've seen anyway) so maybe it'll give them chance for some race wins?
