I'm looking to have a new helmet painted, my last one was done by "Gremlin Designs" about 10 years ago, who appear to have ceased trading. Has anyone used Lee Fareham of "D-Zign" in Macclesfield, and if so, how does his pricing & work compare to others??

I would always go with Jason at JLF Designs - not the cheapest, but certainly worth it...

Yes, I spoke to Jason this morning, and said I would send some photos of my existing helmet, so he could quote me on it. The problem being, he is looking at the end of April to complete, and realistically I could do with it being ready mid March at the latest! I live close to where D-Zign is based, hence the reason I wanted some feedback. I have vistited the Facebook page of the other chap, Didi, and his work looks good, ...... where is he based, because it doesn't show anything?

Thanks for the advice so far, Howard

Hi Howie
I've just had a lid painted by a guy in the midlands www.jimsfactory.co.uk
He charges around £300 I'm happy with his work, ok maybe not up to JLF standard if you want to be really picky on edges of lines etc.

Another vote for JLF...

He did an absolutely stunning job for me two years ago, my most prized possession.

Now doing helmet #2, waiting for my final design from Jason before signing it off and patiently waiting for May completion.

Absolute legend and worth every penny!

(No I'm not related to him)

Another vote for Didi!! He's based in Scotland but arranges all the courier for you and keeps you well updated with designs and photos. Highly recommended.

Hi JP,
Hope you are well, ..... and surviving the Midlands Arctic blast! I noticed jimsfactory when I googled helmet painting, but at the same time, D-Zign came up in the search and are just down the road, almost where Zac lives (I know, don't say it). His website looks good, but don't know anyone that has used him. You probably remember my helmet in white, blue, green & red which was done by Gremlin around 10 years ago, and I always admire the job they did on it. I know that JLF could replicate the design/finish, but can't complete for when I really need it. The problem being, you know what a fussy tosser I can be, and if the edges of lines weren't perfect, it would really annoy me, so I'm trying to find someone as good as JLF that can complete it sooner. I would rather pay more for a perfect job, than an OK one. Thanks for the input though, catch up with you soon, H

Hi AA & Chris,

Didi could be another option if I don't receive any positive feedback on D-Zign. It is really difficult when you have a new helmet that's worth a few hundred quid, and then you are paying ANOTHER few hundred quid to cover it in paint, it needs to be like a work of art that you can admire & feel happy with. Thanks for your input too, H

I'd surgest as the guy is down the road to pop in to have a chat and see the quality of his work, that's why I used jimsfactory as he was fairly close and I find it easier to chat face to face about what I wanted design etc.
He has a Facebook page so you will see some of his recent work.
I'm good thank you this snow is a pain having all my days cancelled because of it.

Hi JP,

Yes, that is probably what I'll do, but hoped that someone could give either postive or negative feedback, and then I would decide what to do. I bought a HANS device at the show, and really want to use it at the beginning of the season, My old Arai doesn't have the fittings, so I need my new helmet ready for then! Like everything, I've left it to the last minute, and now the new season looms!! one day I'll learn, ......when I get older!!!

Hi Chris,

Thanks for your advice, ..... would it be rude to ask roughly what Didi charged you?

No problem Howard helmet was £350 and I think £75 for the HANS (will try and post pic) the price is very cheap for the amount of work in my design with the camo patten/logo's etc but believe me the work is first class,I have his number if you would like it?

Hi Chris, Excellent, it sounds very reasonable. If you could let me have his number, that would be very helpful. Thanks again for your help.

Hi Chris,

Thank you, I'll call him later, and see what his work load is at present, and take it from there. I'm suprised no one has given me any feedback on the original query, not too sure if that is good or bad! I'll let you know what happens eventually,

Best regards, Howard
