Harnesses - 6 or 8 point with Hans? What would you choose?
Discussion
New to the Hans use and need to replace the harness anyway as it's out of date.
Presumably on this one, the main shoulder belts go under the Hans shoulder pads and the thinner belts over the Hans device? Are there pros and/or cons to the thin straps being independently anchored to the harness bar/cage?

Or would you go with this, where the thinner belt is attached to the main belt?

Not sure of the science behind each design, so any help and advice would be most welcome. Thanks.

"Standard" 6 point 3 inch belts are fine. Don't need the thinner 2inch belts and beware if you share a car with a driver who doesn't have a HANS then he can't use them anyway. CSCC were recently told that there was no such thing as "HANS compatible belts", its a marketing ploy. I have 3 inch belts in my car and use a HANS and have had no probs.
I have 6 point 3" ones and have no problems although to be honest I have used the thinner hans belts (6point) and they are easier to put on. Having shared a car with someone else when we both had hans and they had a lot more trouble with the 3" belts the only difference was they had the sport hans.
I need to renew my belts this year and am considering the HANS specific 2"/3" version. I always find the 3" strap sit awkwardly in the channels. Can anyone running the 2" version give an opinion on them?
With regards to "HANS Compatible", I find a big difference in seats that have been designed for HANS. My Recaro Pro Racer HANS for instance is way more comfortable to use with the device than any other seat I've sat in.

Thank you for your replies everybody. Very helpful. Having now decided to go the 3" into 2" single shoulder belts, I could do with getting a concensus on which make to go with. Can I get your opinions on ease of use of buckles and adjustmet on different brands please? I think I'm leaning toward the Schroth Profi II-6H http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Schroth-Profi-II-6H-Harn... but could be talked into something else if there's a preferred option out there. Cheers
