...my helmet is looking a bit stone chipped (it's 3 years old). Is there a source of knowledge about how chipped a helmet can be and still be ok? I know one answer is don't take risks with helmets, but a new one could easily get a small chip first time out and I wouldn't replace it then.

Any ideas?

Is is painted if not get it painted and the air brusher can repair small chips, then apply a venture shield vinyl protection if they do one for your make of helmet.

Thanks JP, there are venture shield kits for the Arai 5k, so that's good. Any recommendations anyone on helmet painters?

I happen to have a venture shield kit new in box for a GP5 K if that's what you have?
I've just had a lid painted by a guy in my part of the world www.jimsfactory.co.uk
Many others about though all depends on what you want on it and how much you want to spend.

I do have a GP5k JP. How much do you want for it if it's spare?

Strange thread boys ............. seemed to start off as 'Therefore is it still safe to use?' and has (momentarily at least) finished up as 'Here's one place to get it painted?'

Not quite sure how no longer visible/now concealed behind paint quite addresses an interesting and valid question. scratchchin

Yes clearly the "paint it approach" is predicated on deciding it's ok.

For a moment, I had to work out which "off at Brands"! I have my worst record by far at Brands - but yes you are right. Yep out again this year, was out yesterday for the first test of the season at Donington - very nice once the fog cleared and we got out.
