Caterham Championship or Funcup?
Discussion
Good evening,
Hope to be in a position next year to compete on an arrive and drive type package in either of the following championships: -
Caterham Tracksport - Full team support with coaching
Caterham Supersport - Full team support with coaching
Funcup - Full team support (unsure if coaching is available)
I would appreciate information which would help make the decision or certainly factors that I should consider when making the decision.
Ideally those which have competed in both championships I would appreciate your un-biased views.
Thanks and regards
Ross

I prefer to compete in longer races as believe it offers better value for money. I Would like to eventually compete in Britcar and / or some classic/ historic sports cars.
I have competed in karts for the last 3 years with some success however have always struggled with getting to the minimum weight and acting as big sail down the straights as a consequence of being taller than most who compete.
Is there a lot of difference in the cockpit size between the Caterham s3 and the funcup cars. I own a Caterham SV which I have attended trackday in and is comfortable however when I sat in a friends superlight it was uncomfortably tight however I believe with a foam seat I could certainly fit.

Fun Cup cars are huge inside compared to Caterhams (and most other cars really) - single seat in the middle of the car - and the car is very tall so lots of headroom.I have competed in karts for the last 3 years with some success however have always struggled with getting to the minimum weight and acting as big sail down the straights as a consequence of being taller than most who compete.

Funcup is more competitive than Britcar - hardly surprising as all of the cars are the same. There are some very, very good drivers to benchmark yourself against.
Its many years since I raced a Caterham - the racing was close but it seemed very easy to damage the chassis. The FC cars are very solidly built and worst case is usually a couple of bars at either end which are designed to bend in an impact and are easy to replace.
You get a LOT of seat time in Fun Cup.
Nigel Greensall drives funcup for Racelogic and does driver coaching in the 2seater funcup cars during practice.
