Hi guys

having done a bit of research already - there seems 2 "entry" systems

The Autotel base system
http://digitalracingradios.com/index.php?route=pro...
or the Peltor system
http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/motorsport/pit-commu...

Any comments or any others worth considering ?

Do you race in a class which allows 2-way radios?

We have two sets of Autotel pit to car radios which have served us well when we have used them. They seem to be the default choice in the paddock as far as I can see and most drivers who have helmets set up for pit to car radio tend to have the Autotel fitting.

Even if a race series does not allow them you can still use them when testing and they do save time when you know before the car comes in what the driver thinks needs to be done to the car.

Cheers - I was looking at Autotel RACE 600 SYSTEM. Had a look at alternatives but as you said it's almost the standard so if I do anything elsewhere this system should also work.

Time to save some more pennies !

Yep - qualify under Races which involve a Driver change.
I think it will prove useful in testing as well. Def will save some time and help when working on setup etc.

Ah, that explains it. I must have mis-identified you - for some reason I thought you were doing a 750MC championship!

I never knew 750 Roadsports were two-driver races. . . or I did & I've forgotten - don't recollect seeing Roadsports for a few years now.

I was talking to a guy last week at Silverstone and believe it or not his GT3 race team used a pair of cheap mobile phones at Spa, They stuck it on to the steering wheel he calls the pits just before going out on track and leaves it on hands free and they can have a full conversation

To be honest I struggle to believe that when I personally find it hard to understand the driver using the Autotel with noise cancelling. I am not suggesting you are not telling the truth you are only going on what the person you spoke to said.

you can get phone to helmet adapters, they can work really well if the phone coverage is decent enough.

personally, 99% of it us in the interface and helmet, i don't get on with earplugs, so use a helmet with built in speakers/microphone, they are really good.

peltor is what i have.

He did say they were using some kind of Helmet ear piece device. Personally i believe him he's a very unassuming older chap not the usual bull st*** type that one normally meets at the track

It is - 20min quali - 45min race and all on one day ! Entry cost is in the £350 area - great track time for the money !
