Hi,
wouldn't mind having a go at a few sprints and was wondering what the best plan of action was?

It seems I need to join a car club and was wondering if there is a good one for sprints in the worcstershire/ West Midlands area? Or does it not really matter too much about what area it's in?

All you guys doing sprints, what's the best way to get involved? How do I get booked up and ready to go smile

It doesn't really matter which club you join but its nice to belong to a club that organises a sprint as you can help out on the day.

Best way to get involved in sprinting is to enter a championship that is based at venues near where you live. Once you get into it then you probably will end up travelling all over the country as it gets under your skin.

A good place to start: http://www.hillclimbandsprint.co.uk/

Shenstone & District Car Club near Lichfield run Curborough. As a member you get invites to other sprints and hillclimbs.

In order to enter a sprint, you must be a member of an invited club. Normally, that's a few local clubs and some others (often a regional association) and the information is in the regs for that event. I'd suggest finding what events you fancy having a go at and see if there's a common club that fits them. Hopefully, that's a local one so you can share a pint at club night. Worst case is if you want to do an event but your club isn't listed, simply join the club running the event as it's normally £10-20.

Thanks for all the advise guys, found a few clubs to join now so I'm on the way smile there doesn't seem to be many events now so is it end of the season or something?
Going to apply for my MSA license this week and start getting the car ready, should be ready to attend an event very soon.
Just hope the old girl can cope biggrin
Curborough is just 45 miles away so that's looking good! Shelsley is very close but not sure I fancy that just yet!

Yes its coming towards the end of the season now.

Not much point in getting your license now, you may as well wait until around December and apply for a 2014 one.

You don't always need to join a club, or go through with getting your licence.

I have been Sprinting for a few years now, without having done either.

Personally, I race in the Toyota Sprint Series. Don't let the name put you off, they run an 'open' category (Class X) for non-Toyotas which is getting more and more popular (last round having more in it than actual Toyotas). It is run very well by Javelin Trackdays and I can't say a bad word about them for it.

Relaxed atmosphere, great Sprinting at some fantastic tracks/circuits up and down the country. Well priced too.

It's a very good place to start out and/or try it to see what you think.

Regs from-: compsec@bristolpegasus.com

Bugatti Owners Club
Hill Climb at Prescott on Saturday 5th October
Regs from-; www.prescott-hillclimb.com

Track Day at Aintree on 5th October
Regs from-: compsec@liverpoolmotorclub.com

Longton & District Motor Club

Mallory's been changed to 3rd November. I'm entered there, so if you need help with anything, just shout. Bear in mind that licences are annual, so if you get one now, it'll expire on 31st December. I know nothing about the Toyota Sprint Series, but it's not run by an MSA club, which is why everything is different. There's also the Mitsubishi Lancer sprint series and I think there's a Subaru Owners' Club one too, which are not MSA events either. Finally, there's the "How Fast" thing at Bedford, which is half way between a sprint and Time Attack.
