I realise this is highly subjective and application-dependent, however...

I'm planning on using some Kumho V70a for dry weather running. When I've used these before, it has always been fairly well scrubbed sets, and they've been hopeless in the wet. By before, I mean trackdays, and so I've been able to run standard road tyres to deal with it better.

Which of the 1a/1b tyres are best for an 1100kg RWD car in the wet? Would a new set of the Kumhos suffice, or is there something better on the list that I've haven't tried?

Pointers gratefully accepted before I try a few options.

888's or R1R's would have a tread pattern more conducive to wet weather than the Kumho's which for the most part are devoid of any real tread.

The Toyo's also remain legal for much much longer, if that matters.

The hillclimbers I know who have a set of wets use these: http://www.avonmotorsport.com/historic/road-legal/...
The Kumhos aren't too bad when they have some tread but even part worn they are hopeless.

Toyo R1R's are very good, but tend to lose their grip when they start to wear. I use Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetrics in very wet conditions and 888's the rest of the time.

V70s good in dry but as has been said hopeless in standing water :-( mainly due to naff all tread depth even when new (stops tread blocks moving which is good for dry)

some of the BMW guys used to cut them with deeper grooves to the edges to dispel more water, but isn't raod legal and may not be championship legal depending on what you do.

CR28s are the bomb if theres a size to suit your car
