Helmet Camera - Racing at UK Circuits...
Discussion
Hi All,
Having watched the various headcam videos on Drive / You Tube at the moment (the most recent Leh Keen Nurburgring 24hr video is just amazing), I was wondering what the view was on helmet mounted cameras in the UK in racing.
Blue Book says its a no-no at the moment (wondering how then an FIA event has allowed it), but I was wondering whether anyone had tried this out in the UK race seen recently?
Thanks in advance
Steve

It's not actually a helmet cam, they are using camera glasses like these.

I've got a cheap pair like the ones above which are ok but I think the field of view isn't quite wide enough. For a good pair you need to be looking at around the £200 mark but if you are really interested I can dig mine out and pop a video up to show how a cheap pair work.

Ah! So!
One is allowed to wear glasses while racing. I wonder if the regs took the bulky and no doubt heavy frames on these into account? But they would do what I wanted to do, see where I was looking during a race. But another video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jBbPGQ3Bpug is a bit worrying, Driver quite," I had to drive with only one eye open as the camera was blocking my other eye, quite tricky" Different camera?
(it's a very good video, by the way - Spa in the wet!)
Apart from this "Leh Keen" (who he?) no one else seems to be doing this on track. Does that say something about it?
