You're wrong Perry, steve-V8S has nothing to do with the TVRCC Speed Championship, but you're right that he's a very nice chap who hillclimbs at Gurston Down.steve-V8s

Hi Carl,
i compete in the speed championship, its a great championship and all competitiors muck in and help each other out, come along and have a play next year.
Yes, I've got some pics of you guys at Debden. I'm not out at the same time as you this year (I was number 1). I'll contact the organizer.i compete in the speed championship, its a great championship and all competitiors muck in and help each other out, come along and have a play next year.
carl - i have sent you contact details for steve hunter and jo briars who run the championship.
basically its 24 events all over the uk with the best 8 results to count. It's open to any TVR of any age or format with any engine, standard road car or modified with either A list or B list tyres. Basically anything goes.
The playing field is kept level through a clever handicap algorithm based on power to weight ratio which prevents people throwing money at it and buying a win.
this years champion was geoff in a 1960's vixen and i came second in a 1995 griff 500 so the handicap really does work.
any queries email me and i am happy to have a chat.
cheers

OK, that answers a lot of my questions already. I've seen your Griff -- is it the one with the aluminium diffuser hanging out of the back?basically its 24 events all over the uk with the best 8 results to count. A bog standard road going chimera 400 is a good place to start if you don't want to spend too much. If you are not too worried about the pretty bits you can get a good solid car for less than 5k. I you buy one just make sure it has a good chassis.
To run in the championship you have to be a member of the TVR car club which is £35 PA and then join the championship which I think is £25 PA. most people drive to the events which saves trailers tow cars etc and gets you time in the car. I have classic insurance at £300 PA for 5000 miles and the cars are simple to maintain so its not too expensive.
