Diesel Hillclimb
Discussion
The correct answer is, of course, to check the regs for the series/event you want to enter as there are several different class structures.
It always used to be a 0.5 multiplier for diesel and 1.4 for a turbo so you could get a 2.0 turbo-diesel in the 1.4 class but a quick check of the Blue Book ( http://msauk.org/site/cms/contentviewarticle.asp?a... ) and a couple of championship regs don't list anything for diesels anymore, so I think you'd be in with the Scoobies and Evos with a 1.9tdi.

There is nothing in the Harewood regulations about diesels and the previous diesel entrants have been in the same engine size grouping as petrol engine cars. I think you should enter the Ibiza so there is something I can compete against on a more level playing field than there is with the Evos.
Unfortunately unless you have an Evo with over 400bhp you won't be competitive in the class. Doesn't stop it being fun though. And I was the quickest fwd car in the class this year* and the quickest unmodified car so I was happy.
- before anyone else says it, I was generally the only fwd car in the class.
I looked into something similar here:

There are a couple of championships (not exclusive Harewood ones) that have a Diesel equivalency that effectively cancels out the turbo. So a 2000cc turbo diesel is in with 2000cc petrols. Given that they are now close to 200bhp (or more) and have lots of torque they would be very competitive.
As an example, my first time at Harewood and on the wrong tyres, my 250bhp Boxster S, and a Morgan plus eight I beat were both slower than a turbo Diesel Golf.

Fixed that for you
